Residence permit: issue, renewal and conversion

We prepare the application, check the documents and follow the case at the Questura until the permit is collected.

What we handle

  • First issue of the permit after entering Italy with a visa
  • Renewal for employment or self-employment, family reasons and study
  • Conversion of the permit, for example from study or seasonal work to employment
  • EU long-term residence permit, for you and your family members
  • Permit updates: change of address, adding children

When to apply for renewal

The Italian Consolidated Immigration Act (Legislative Decree 286/1998, art. 5) requires renewal to be requested before the permit expires. It is best to act early: the application receipt allows you to keep working while the Questura processes your case. If your permit has already expired, contact us immediately so we can assess the situation.

The EU long-term residence permit

It is the permanent permit for those who have lived legally in Italy for at least five years. Among other things, it requires adequate income, suitable housing and knowledge of the Italian language. We check the requirements before filing to avoid refusals.

Documents for renewal for work

  • Valid passport and expiring residence permit
  • Italian tax code (codice fiscale)
  • Employment contract and latest payslips
  • Certificazione Unica (CU) or tax return for the last year
  • Rental contract or declaration of hospitality
  • Four passport photos and a €16 revenue stamp

Indicative list: for other types of permit the documents differ, and we will tell you which ones during the consultation.

If your case is stalled

When processing takes longer than the law allows, we send formal reminders by certified email (PEC) and, if necessary, applications to higher offices.
